Welcome to the PLACE Lab Blog!

You have reached the blog of Smith College’s Plant Physiology, Art, and Community Engagement (PLACE) Lab. This is the primary interface where we share our current research, art projects, and experiences as plant physiologists! This lab studies climate change impact on plants and trees, specifically drought and cold stress.
Some current projects the PLACE lab is working on includes a study about the cold and drought tolerance of conifer trees, several undergraduate honors thesis projects, and a special studies project! Learn more about current research in the posts section of this blog!

Our blog content is process oriented, written with the purpose of making our experience in science accessible to all readers. Our work on the blog consists of many media types, including essays, articles, fiction, personal narrative and visual art! We create with the goal of exploring and the intention of learning and improving our craft. We hope our readers take this into consideration on your journey through the blog-sphere, and enjoy the plethora of plant based ramblings!
